Episode 01 - An Impossible Preclude

Summary: [Written by Kaitou Icery] Kahoko Hino goes to Seiso Academy, which the school has two divisions -- the students who don't take play an instument and the ones that do. She's late to school one day and as she's taking a rest by a statue, she shes a fairy who's excited that finally someone can see him. Because of that, he uses his magic to ring the bells, which represent that the music competition is going to be held in their school this year. When she gets to her class, her friend Mio tells her about a story behind the bells that were ringing eariler.

25 years back, there were two participants that were lovers, but they were also rivals. She mentions how they found a fairy that was hidden in the school, which makes Kahoko think about the creature that she just saw. Mio then goes on to mentioning that they were also both violists, hence it being called a "Violin Romance." Her other friend, Nao thinks that the story's ridiculous, while Kahoko thinks that the fairy was just a figment of her imagination.

Later that day, the principal announced the names of the participants of this year's music competition: Azuma Yunoki (from class 3-B), Kazuki Hihara (also from class 3-B), Len Tsukimori (from class 2-A), Keiichi Shimizu (from class 1-A), Shoko Fuyuumi (from class 1-B), and much to Kahoko's (from class 2-2 of the Regular Department) and everyone else's surprise (since she's the only participant not from the music department), her name's announced as well. The only problem... Kahoko has NEVER played an instrument in her life.

She later sees the fairy again, who's name is Lili and is a 'fata,' a fairy of music. He mentions that in the past, many people were able to see them; but, these days, only a very select few are able to see them. Since she can see him, he says that she must have some sort of inner musical talent and hence why she was chosen to participate. Lili gives her a magical violin that anyone can play; of course, if that was the case, couldn't anyone else have been chosen to play?

Not quite. He then tells her that only people who have the same wavelength as he does can play it. At first, Kahoko's really reluctant to play, but Lili eventually convinces her so she decides to participate. As she's walking out of the music practice rooms, she notices Shoko Fuyuumi, who was the only first year, besides Keiichi, who was chosen to participate, being picked on by three girls (are second year music students) because she was chose over them.

Kahoko sticks up for her, but in the process, the girls notice her violin case and noticed that she's the student from the Regular Department who was chosen to participate. They then ask her to play something, which at first she was a bit hesitant, but after she remembers what Lili told her, she changes her mind and prepares to play.
