Episode 03 - The Anonymous-By-Request Chopin
Japanese Title: Tokumei kibou no Chopin
Based On: Volume /Chapter (will update when I get the manga)
Airdate: October 15, 2006
Summary: [Written by Meagi] Kahoko, who has been forced to prove that she is worthy of participating in the competition, is frozen in fear by the gathering of people listening to her performance. Luckily, Kazuki turns up and begins to play a duet with Kahoko, thus saving her from humiliation by the hands of three girls who adore Azuma. It isn't long until the competition now and Kahoko still doesn't know what song she wants to perform. She also gets told by Kanazawa Sensei that she needs to find an accompanist, and should focus on practice from now on.

Lost in her thoughts, Kahoko finds Len being bullied by some third year students and without thinking pours water all over them. This angers them a lot more, and when they begin to close in on Kahoko she trips backward and ends up breaking the vase in her hands. This, luckily, causes the guys to run away, but Kahoko has unfortunately cut her hand. Len takes Kahoko to the Nurse's room so that he can bandage them, but as usual the tension is quite large and they end up arguing.

After gym class Kahoko is demonstrating to her friends how good she has become at soccer when her shoe flies off her foot and hits Ryoutarou in the back! They all begin chatting but are interrupted by Len who has come to deliver a notice to Kahoko from Kanazawa Sensei. The notice explains that the concours will begin soon; this reduces Kahoko to a panic stricken state, and begins to question Len on his practicing methods.

This annoys him as he feels she is not trying hard enough, but Ryoutarou thinks the opposite and ends up in an argument with Len. On her way home, Kahoko's friend, Mio, starts to have grand delusions about Kahoko's relationships with Kazuki, Len, and Ryoutarou. She claims that the "Violin Romance" has begun to take place, but Kahoko has bigger things on her mind!

Kahoko stops by a music store, and on her way home hears someone playing the piano from a small shop. She walks inside to find Ryoutarou, seated at a grand piano, playing music beautifully. This shocks Kahoko. When Ryoutarou realizes her presence, he immediately stops and demands that she doesn't tell anyone! After talking with the owner of the store Kahoko finds out that he used to play often and that his mother is a piano teacher. Kahoko hopes that he will be able to help her in the future.

On her way to class, the next day, she contemplates about the theme that has been assigned to the first round of the concours: "Opening Up." She is lost in her thoughts when she bumps into Kazuki and Azuma who think they might be able to find her an accompanist. She declines thinking one that they might suggest will just be a jealous fan-girl! As they part, a first year student named Megumi Shouji requests to be Kahoko's accompanist. Kahoko happily agrees. As the two say good bye, Megumi's expression is very cruel, callous, and sadistic.
